Background History of Government College of Technology Multan

After a few years of the existence of Pakistan, efforts were made to build an institution in Multan for the promotions of scientific and technical education. In 1965, a government polytechnic institute established on temporary basis in the building of Government Pilot School in which the students were admitted first time in the electrical and mechanical departments.

After nine years this institution upgraded to Government College of technology and shifted near Qasimpur canal. In 1981-82, three more departments also introduced which were civil engineering, electronics and textile engineering.

Students of this institution are illuminating the names of not only Multan but also Pakistan throughout the world. This college has a vast area. Due to the road broadness, its main gate has been shifted to backside and the name of college written for years on it now has been disappeared.

Now this technical institution is a well-known technical institution not only in Multan but also throughout the country which promoting different kinds of technical education. Students can get DAE (diploma of associate engineering) in different disciplines and B-tech. education from here. This prominent technical institution is situated at a few yards from a famous chowk known as BCG Chowk Multan.
