History of MQM – At A Glance

Karachi (Friday, March 4, 2016) – Yesterday MQM faces another milestone of his history. When two main central leaders of MQM Mr. Mustafa Kamal and Anees Khan Qaimkhawani  hold press conference in Karachi and announced a new political party.  MQM was formed some 38 years ago. As an political party it has faces many ups and downs. Brief history of MQM is as under:-

11 June 1978 – The residence of Azizabad, Mr. Altaf Hussain announced Student Tanzeem, All Pakistan Muhajir Students Organization (APMSO) in Jamia Karachi (University of Karachi).

18 March, 1984 – Formed Muhajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) and start political struggle.

19 June 1992 – As a result of operation against MQM, it was divided into two parts. New political party MQM Haqeeqi formed by Afaq Ahmad and Amir Khan.

1997 – Muhajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) renamed into Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) and start political struggle country wide.

3 March 2016 – Former Mayor Karachi and Anis Khan Qaimkhawani announced new party. (Name of Political Party yet to be decided)
