History of Multan International Airport
Multan (Tuesday, 26th April 2016) – International airport Multan is situated about four Km towards west of Multan city.In 1919 English era,this airport had been in use by the royal air-force. In 1934 the aircraft started landing here.In 1938 Imperial airways started its regular flights from here to other cities of Pakistan and also to India.After Pakistan existence.
Pak air started its work and at that time Multan flying club also founded in 1957. After that PIA started its national(local) flights from Multan.Due to increase in flights,the airport extended in 1977.
In 2005 PCAA(Pakistan civil aviation authority) decided to upgrade the runway with airport facilities.In January 2010 the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Yusaf Raza Gilani laid the foundation stone of new terminal
beside old one. In March 2015 Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated it as Multan International Airport.
Mr. Mubarak Ali was its first Manager while at present Mr.Raja Azhar Mahmood is serving
as Manager of the airport.This airport was very necessary for Multan and its surrounding people.
