Shahi Masjid Basti Malik Wahan Abad Tehsil Mailsi Distrct Vehari
At about 10 Km away from tehsil Maisi district Vehari, there is a basti (colony) of Malik Wahnabad on Vehari road. In this region, in the reign of Mughal King Aurangzeb a mosque named Badshahi Jamia Masjid was built by the order of Governor Ladakh. On the fixed tile of mosque, the construction year written for this mosque is 1058 BC that is 1647-48 AD.
An incident is also known to this mosque that at the end of 18 th century an earthquake came which brought heavy destruction here but this mosque remained safe and sound. At that time two brother and sister got shelter here and they also remained safe. They hid a treasure in this mosque. There is written a siraiki verse on the wall of this mosque about this treasure which is “sut hasyan sut sonay diyan mityan…bhain bharawan dhalday pichaween rakhiyan.”
In this region on several times coins of copper, gold and silver have also been emerged on
which the name of Aurangzeb has been found. Inside the mosque blue tiles work (kashi gari) has done beautifully on which the arts and crafts of niche (mehrabs) and Qurani verses reminded the Mughal reign. On the ignorance of old construction style in the construction and maintenance of this mosque, the genuine characteristic of this mosque has been lost. This mosque requires quick response from the relevant department.
