Lt. General retired and former ISI head Mr. Hameed Gul has died in Murree. on Saturday night (August 15, 2015). He was also founder of Taliban in Afghanistan. He was renowned Defense and political Analyst of Pakistan.

Family and Area

Hamid Gul’s family were Pathans and belonged to the Yousufzai clan. His family originated from Swat valley and migrated to Lahore. Then settled in Sargodha in Punjab Province. He born on 20 November 1936 to Muhammad Khan in Sargodha of Punjab.

Education :- Hameed Gul received his early education from a school in his village. He studied in Government College Lahore and then joined Pakistan Military Academy Kakul near Abbottabad.

Army Career (1956-1992)

Obtained commissioned in Pakistan Army in October, 1956

Remained DG ISI = 1987-1989

Hameed Gul planned and executed the operation to capture Jalalabad from the Soviet-backed Afghan army in the spring of 1989.

Retirement fro Army = 1992

Death Detail

Lt. General Hameed Gul died of brain hemorrhage on 15th August, 2015. At night 9:15pm, Gul’s health condition worsened and he was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Murree. He was later pronounced dead. At 11:30 PM. He was suffering from high blood pressure and headache.
