When Swat Motorway Project will Start – Fact and Figures

Peshawar (Tuesday, January 19, 2016) – The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lead by Pakistan tehreek e Insaf (PTI) has announced to built Swat Motorway in his province. This will be first mega communication scheme of PTI after getting government of KPK in 2013. Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PKHA), Communication and Works Department (C&W) will implement this grand transportation road project. Swat Motorway will connect scenic valley of Northern Area with rest of Pakistan. Some months ago a billboard has been installed at Sher Khan Interchange at Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M1). At this point the Swat motorway will take start. When it will start. It is expected that in the the month January, 2016, The work on Swat Motorway/Expressway will be started. It is also being tried to include this road in CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor), Which is still looking impossible. As CPEC route has already planned through Besham-Thakot-Batgram-Mansehra and Abbottabad.

Facts and Figures about Swat Motorway

Swat Motorway will be 81 kilometers long from Kernal Sher Khan Interchange to Chakdara Chowk in Malakand.
> It will be fenced on both sides so no hindrance will come in the smooth flow of traffic.
> It will increase tourism and open the beautiful valleys of northern districts of KPK to tourists.
> It will increase industrial activity and help develop the economy of the province.
> It will shorten the travel time by almost 2 hours.
> The journey between K. Sher Khan Interchange and Chakdara Chowk will take almost 45 minutes, which is a significant change.

Width / Number of Lanes = 4

Number of Interchanges = 7

Number of Service Areas = 2
